Message from The Faeries: Us faeries are all about living in the now and in the moment. Being present at all times is one of keys to happiness. We realize, however that this is one of your greatest strugles. Most of you seem unable to escape your pasts, and so you must learn the art of remembrance.
When you remember something from the past, instead of being swept up in the memory, maybe you want to try taking a more analytical approach. Try to take on the perspective of the observer and not the participant. Once you step outside of your emotional experience, you can see more of the story unfold.
For example, let’s say you are remembering an argument that you had with someone. Instead of going into all of your hurt or angry feelings, maybe you can begin to see things from the perspective of the other person, or maybe you can start to see how what they were saying wasn’t personal. Taking on an another perspective allows you step out of your emotional attachment to that heated moment that you are carrying around.
We know it’s not realistic for you to forget the past, but you can certainly work on not continually living in the trauma of events that are no longer happening. If you are having a really hard time working through trauma of the past, then you might need the support of a friend or the help of a professional therapist or healer. If you can’t forget the past, then you have to at least learn to let go of it somehow. Don’t keep gripping onto the past. It is not a lifeline, it is more like a heavy chain holding you back.
This week, if you are feeling hindered by your past actions, remember that you don’t have to carry it forward with you. You can always create a new situation for yourself or start fresh at any given moment. Own your past mistakes and move on. Forward and onward!
