Message from The Faeries: This week it’s time for you to reward yourself. You’ve been so busy lately and there has been a lot going on for you these days. You really haven’t taken a moment to sit and reflect on all of your hard work. More specifically, you have taken the time to do something nice for yourself.
We want you to think about what it really means to reward yourself. We notice that some of you think you are rewarding yourself by doing something that is over the top and decadent. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this. You obviously have free will and you can do whatever it is that you want to reward yourself, but we want you think about whether or not you may have an unhealthy rewarding system.
Here is an example: Let’s say you’ve been working out really hard lately, and you’ve been eating really healthy. You have been taking good care of your body. You feel really good about yourself. You feel healthy, strong, and your mind is very clear. You decide that for all your hard work, you want to reward yourself. You are feeling quite celebratory, so you go to the store and you buy yourself cake. You think to yourself: I’ve worked really hard this past month, I deserve this cake. You go home and you eat the whole thing. It is very possible that you can eat that cake and feel really great after, but there is also a huge possibility that you are going to feel terrible after eating that cake. Not only is all the fat, sugar and starches going to make you feel physically bad, you might also feel guilty for eating so much sweets at once.
If you are one of those really lucky people who can pull off eating that whole cake feeling really great afterwards, then we say go for it. Get real and be honest with yourself on this one. If you do something to reward yourself, and then you feel terrible after the reward – you haven’t rewarded yourself at all. You are in an unhealthy pattern with yourself. Instead of rewarding yourself you’ve actually been doing things to punish yourself. If you were truly acting out of love for yourself, you would not go out and eat a cake, you would go out and buy yourself something to eat that would nourish you and make you feel good. You would do something that makes you feel well all around: Body, Mind and Soul.
This week we hope you take the time to truly reward yourself. Do something that makes you feel really good, whatever that is. Maybe you deserve some beautiful flowers. Maybe you take yourself on a nice hike through the woods. Maybe you take the time to meditate every day. Maybe you take that 5 minute dance break. Whatever it is that you decide to do for yourself, make sure it is in fact a real reward. You deserve it!
