Faerie Card Reading for the Week Jan 14-20, 2013

Card: 47 The Oak Men – from The Faerie Oracle deck by Brian Froud and Jessica Macbeth.

“This card depicts the strength and wisdom of age. It also reminds us what we need to know, what is truly there to be seen, can not be discovered by superficial glance and hasty reaction. In a reading, the Oak Men tell us to look slowly and deeply into the heart of the matter and to see past the superficialities of the surface. Consider the history of the situation in depth, and learn from the past. Consult others with more experience than you have. Learn from the wisdom of the elders, both those available to you personally and those you encounter in books and elsewhere. In this matter it would be wise to make your decisions alter more pondering and study of the situation. Consider motivations in depth. Take action only after thorough deliberation. The Oak Men tell us that hast may be, at the moment, our worst enemy.

They also suggest that we might learn a lot from trees. Consider the trees and their wisdom. Connect with a wise old one and ask for help.”

Message from the Faeries: Oak trees stand tall and proud, and some of these trees have been around for centuries, watching the world around them change and grow over long periods of time. They have a deep wisdom that can only be achieved by standing for hundreds of years in one place. Although you most likely won’t be standing in one place for even one year, you do have access to this ancient knowledge. You could go about seeking out elders or reading books written by masters, but please know that you have all of this knowledge is inside of you. It’s woven into you DNA. If you are seeking for answers, all you need to do is look inside. The oak tree stands outside in the forest, but it also stands inside the core of your being.

Perhaps now is a good time for you to be spending time alone, contemplating and looking deep inside. Ask yourself questions like: What is my true hearts desire? What are some of things I would like to accomplish this year? What am I doing that’s stopping myself from having the things that I really want in life? How can I change these unhealthy patterns I’ve been living out for most of my life? How can I heal these deeps wounds I’ve been living with? Do I want to heal? Am I looking to others to fill my cup or am I trusting that the Universe is there to fill my cup at any given moment and that my cup being empty is just an illusion, a trick I have played on myself? Who am I? Who do I want to be?

This is a time of quiet, patience and, most importantly, a time of self-care and love. Take the time to look deep within yourself and ask yourself some serious questions. But…we also want you to remember that this doesn’t have to be a deep painful experience. This process can and will help lead you to move forward in your life and to achieving your life’s purpose goals. Be kind and gentle to yourself. We want to see you grow and flourish like a tree, but we also don’t feel it’s necessary to become hard like the oak. Many blessings to each and every one of you. Love, The Faeries.

Message from Erin: I keep hearing over and over these days that right now is a time of deep self-reflection and self-care. I was not at all surprised that I pulled this card. When I look at the Oak Men I see deep wisdom and knowledge. A time of questioning. The faeries just chimed in “Hey, don’t take yourself too seriously!” Haha!! Good reminder. I think it’s ok to be selfish right now and just do the things that you can manage. It’s ok to be slow right now too. It’s winter…the time where things lie dormant. Love you all ❤
